Castle Night — Night at Wolha Castle

Cheongun is a fantasy kingdom inspired by Goryeo and Joseon Korea. The army of Heukcheol to the north is crossing the border, and you have just become Lord of Wolha Castle, a small castle on the frontier. You must build up your territory and prepare for raids that may come any night. Castle Night is a 3D castle defense game you play right in your browser. It runs on both phones and computers with no download, and your progress is saved on your device.

Two Pillars: Territory and Expeditions

🏰 Territory — defend and grow. The Wolha territory is a broad plain ringed by mountains and rivers. Only three roads lead in — south, west and east — so how you block those roads is the heart of your defense. Your Lord rides around the territory building farms, lumber camps, quarries, silver mines and houses, and raising towers and palisades. Everything you build stays where you put it.

⚔️ Expeditions — ride out and help. During rest periods, when the Heukcheol army is not coming, you pack rations and set out on expeditions. Defense battles to protect distant allied castles alternate with cavalry charges where you break through enemy lines, shooting from horseback. Forty expeditions across five chapters form one continuous story.

A Day in Wolha

  1. Day: Ride around your territory and build, assign workers to resource sites, and forge weapons or organize generals in village buildings.
  2. Raid warning: Scouts warn you ahead of time — "The Heukcheol army comes from the west in 2 days." There is always a 2–4 day rest period between raids.
  3. Rest period: Each expedition you go on takes one day in your territory. Expeditions cost food (rations).
  4. Raid night: On a warned night, enemies pour over the passes toward your gate. Towers, palisades and walls hold them off together with your Lord and generals. Win and you earn silver and crowns; lose and your storehouse is looted.

Lords and Generals

At the start of the game you choose one of six Lords. The Bowmaster, Cavalier, Engineer, Strategist, Guardian and Sage each have different strengths, and your choice cannot be changed. As your expeditions continue, seven generals join you one by one.
